- Serve in the capacity of Member Service Associate.
- Dress in staff uniform including shirt, name tag and designated gym pants (no jeans).
- Arrive five minutes before the start of all shifts.
- Personal cell phone usage is not permitted while on duty.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings.
- Complete incident/accident forms, as necessary, and inform supervisor(s) of issues.
- Answer the phone.
- Complete assigned cleaning as documented in the fitness folder.
- Supervise the safety and upkeep of the facility, especially as it relates to equipment (i.e. plates, medicine balls, stability balls, dumbbells), risk management, and report all equipment issues to Health and Fitness management.
- Keep all Fitness Center cleaning supplies fully stocked (bottles, towels).
- Be continuously mobile, interacting with members to the greatest degree possible.
- Complete hourly member counts.
- Clearly articulate features and benefits of all Healthy Living programs.
- Provide clear information relative to YMCA programs outside of the Fitness Department.
- Understand and consistently enforce policies related to the Fitness Center.
- Supervise members during workouts.
- Serve as an advocate for all promotional activities.
- Communicate all shift changes to your supervisor(s) in a timely manner.
- Find coverage for any time you are not able to work your shift.
- Provide volunteer assistance at a minimum of one YMCA event per year.
- Adheres to policies and procedures related to boundaries with youth, managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
- Completes all required organizational trainings annually.
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Job responsibilities include access to protected health information. The employee may access protected health information (PHI) only to the extent that it is necessary for job requirements. May only share PHI with those who have a need-to-know specific member/participant/employee information in order to complete job responsibilities related to the individual’s participation, payment, or company operations. Is expected to complete required HIPAA privacy training and maintain HIPAA compliance at all times.
- The Fitness Staff/Personal Trainer has access to protected health information (PHI) of Y program participants. The Fitness Staff/Personal Trainer may use and disclose PHI to workforce members for the purpose of treatment, payment and operations only.
- Actively participates in and upholds the YMCA’s mission to be open and accessible to everyone, regardless of financial situation or special need. Contributes time to raise funds for this worthy and necessary endeavor by supporting the Y’s Annual Giving and Capital Development campaigns.
