Wellness Staff

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Health & Wellness Director, the Wellness Coach is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Health & Wellness Center, ensuring that the Center always runs smoothly. The Wellness Coach is responsible for the general upkeep of all Health & Wellness areas, including the Wellness Center, the Zone, and Group Fitness Studios. The Wellness Coach is expected to build strong lasting relationships with members, employees and volunteers that will encourage healthy lifestyles.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Maintain cleanliness and neatness of all Health & Wellness areas.
• Conduct fitness orientations with new members.
• “Walk the fitness floor” on a very regular basis to see if members need any help and to maintain facility order.
• Build effective relationships with members.
• Promote a positive environment.
• Keep accurate Wellness Center attendance records and any other required records. Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Attend or complete all mandatory staff training and meetings as needed.
• Ability to work independently.
• Complete incident reports when necessary
• Communicate when any equipment is broken or not functioning properly.
• Coordinate and supervise fitness challenges
• Complete Child Abuse Prevention training annually; Required to report any suspected cases of child abuse immediately to supervisor.

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Outstanding communication (via phone and email) and organizational skills
• Highly computer-literate: proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications (within 45 days of hire).
• Maturity, reliability, and promptness
• Effective teaching skills
• Strong interest in becoming certified as a personal trainer.
