Camp Science/STEM Specialist

Position Summary: The Camp Science/STEM Specialist plans and leads hands-on, age appropriate science and STEM activities that promote curiosity, problem-solving, and discovery. This role supports daily camp programming by delivering engaging experiments and challenges aligned with weekly camp themes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Plan and lead daily STEM and science activities for campers of varying age groups
• Facilitate hands-on experiments, engineering challenges, and inquiry-based learning
• Adapt activities to different ages, abilities, and group sizes
• Maintain a safe, organized STEM activity area
• Manage supplies and communicate material needs to camp leadership
• Use positive behavior management strategies
• Support special events, theme days, and rainy-day programming
• Follow all camp safety policies and procedures
• Collaborate with counselors and other specialists

• At least one year of experience as a senior counselor or specialty director at a licensed day or resident camp
• Experience working with children in a camp, school, or youth program setting
• Strong interest or background in science, STEM, or hands-on education
• Ability to lead groups and explain concepts in an engaging way
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or experience in science education, engineering, or STEM fields
• Experience facilitating experiments or project-based learning
