Description
Position Summary: The Camp Arts & Crafts Specialist is responsible for planning and leading creative, age appropriate arts and crafts programming that supports the overall goals and daily schedule of summer camp. This role creates a welcoming, inclusive environment where campers can explore creativity, build confidence, and express themselves through hands-on art experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Plan, prepare, and lead daily arts & crafts activities for campers of varying age groups
- Design projects that align with weekly camp themes and camp values
- Adapt activities for different ages, abilities, and group sizes
- Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging arts & crafts space
- Manage and inventory supplies; communicate needs to camp leadership
- Provide clear instructions and model positive behavior for campers
- Support camper behavior management using positive guidance strategies
- Assist with special events, all-camp activities, and rainy-day programming
- Ensure all activities follow camp safety policies and procedures
- Collaborate with counselors and other specialists to support camper experience
Qualifications
- At least one year of experience as a senior counselor or specialty director at a licensed day or resident camp
- Experience working with children in a camp, school, recreation, or youth program setting
- Strong interest or background in arts, crafts, or creative programming
- Ability to lead groups, manage materials, and engage children positively
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditions
- Must meet state and organizational requirements for working with children
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or experience in art education, visual arts, or early childhood education
- Experience adapting projects for mixed-age groups
- Previous summer camp or youth program experience
